THE CRUNCH

AMD has confirmed that FSR 4, its machine learning upscaling technology, will reach APUs with integrated graphics by the end of the year. Jack Huynh, senior vice president and general manager of AMD's computing and graphics group, shared the timeline with South Korean media in Seoul, saying the company will expand FSR 4 across its lineup, including APUs, gaming laptops and handheld devices, as it optimises the software stack.

The rollout fills a notable gap. FSR 4 launched exclusively on RDNA 4 based Radeon RX 9000 series discrete graphics cards, and AMD extended support to RDNA 3 hardware with the Radeon RX 7000 series this summer. APUs such as "Strix Halo", which use RDNA 3.5 integrated graphics, were left out, but are now set to receive official support by the end of the year.
