THE CRUNCH

AMD has officially priced the Ryzen 5 7500 at $189, while the Ryzen 5 5500F returns at $99 for AM4 users. The Ryzen 5 7500 is a 6-core, 12-thread Zen 4 chip with a 65 W TDP that shares silicon with the 7500F but includes an RDNA 2 integrated graphics unit. The Ryzen 5 5500F uses the Vermeer die and offers the same core count as the standard 5500 but without integrated graphics. The 7500's price is notably higher than

the current street price of the 7500F, which has already fallen to around $130 to $140 boxed at retail. The 7500's launch price looks steep for a budget chip and may trend lower after release, similar to other Ryzen 7000 SKUs. The 5500F matches the current price of the standard Ryzen 5 5500, offering AM4 owners a cheap way to extend their platform's life despite rising memory costs.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT

The 7500 may see price reductions shortly after launch, and the 5500F will likely compete with the standard 5500 in the budget segment.
