THE CRUNCH

Anthropic has announced Claude Duet, an AI agent aimed at professionals and small business owners, launching as a research preview. It is available as a standalone app on iOS and Android and through Claude on the web, built around Claude Opus 5.5.

The agent works across your connected apps: each morning it sends a short brief on the most important items, then keeps watch through the day and messages you only when something needs attention. You can also hand it tasks, from scheduling meetings to building dashboards, creating financial or sales forecasts, prototyping and building web apps. Duet pulls in memory, skills and connected apps from Claude, and has a virtual machine with a browser for completing work.

Before any big step, such as sending a payment or deleting something, Duet asks for your approval. Because it may act on sensitive information, Anthropic has added a dedicated classifier and safety system prompt designed to reject requests to share the strictest tier of information, such as credit card numbers.

Anthropic is upfront that this is an early version: it still might misread a thread or miscalibrate what is urgent, and it is not as strong at personal errands like booking tickets. To try it, you will need to join the waitlist, and you must be a Pro or Max subscriber in the US.
