THE CRUNCH

Apple has announced that its new Apple Intelligence features for HomeKit cameras will require a paid subscription. The service, launching with iOS 27 and tvOS 27, offers AI-powered video summaries, a new video search feature, and the ability to stitch footage from multiple cameras. To access these features, users must subscribe to the 2TB iCloud Plus plan, which costs $9.99 a month.

The new features use AI to generate short text descriptions of who and what compatible security cameras saw, alongside the clip. This aims to make it easier to keep an eye on what's happening around your home without scrolling through footage. The pricing structure means the cost for these security camera features can go as high as $60 a month, depending on the chosen iCloud Plus plan.

Apple Intelligence for Home brings AI-powered video summaries to HomeKit Secure Video. This allows users to get short text descriptions of events captured by compatible security cameras. The service also adds a new video search feature and the ability to stitch footage from multiple cameras into one clip.
