THE CRUNCH
Hamster has announced that the 1986 arcade classic Crazy Climber will launch for PlayStation 5 and Switch 2 on September 17 for $7.99. The game, part of the Console Archives series, includes the Japanese version with English text and modern enhancements like CRT filters and rewind functionality.
The original Crazy Climber, released by Nichibutsu in 1986, tasks players with scaling a skyscraper while dodging falling objects and enemies like Ojamaman and Gorillas. Hamster’s modern release includes only the Japanese version, with all in-game text translated to English. The Console Archives series adds features such as customisable button layouts, rapid-fire settings, multiple save points, and a rewind function to assist players in completing these classics.
The title will launch on September 17 for $7.99 in North America and 800 yen in Japan. Players can also adjust screen layouts and apply CRT filters to recreate the nostalgic atmosphere of retro televisions.
