THE CRUNCH
An AI and games development enthusiast has demonstrated the Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 Hijacked map running natively in Minecraft. Luckey Faraday used GPT Astra to rebuild a browser-based port of the game so that the map runs directly on Minecraft’s own OpenGL context. Video footage shows the 2012 FPS map running full-screen at around 45fps.
The Hijacked map, a compact yacht-based level from Black Ops 2, is now running as a Fabric mod inside Minecraft. Faraday explains that the map, collision, bots, navmesh, weapons and rendering are all running inside the sandbox. The project began with a browser-based port that was then shoehorned into Minecraft, but GPT Astra was used to rebuild the whole thing in Java.
Faraday runs an AI builders’ community and says there is still a lot left to do. The developer notes that additional maps, more weapons, and multiplayer modes are planned for the future. This achievement highlights the openness of Minecraft, which has previously hosted feats like a working 5 million parameter ChatGPT model dubbed CraftGPT.
