THE CRUNCH

Enshrouded, Keen Games' open-world survival and base-building game, has officially launched its 1.0 version on Steam, more than two years after it entered early access in January 2024. The developer has also announced a launch on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Pro for October 15, 2026, the same date as the PC release.

The 1.0 update fleshes out the map considerably. Cinder's Cradle adds barren lava fields and a series of floating islands with new enemies, fauna and flora, while two new Hollow Halls appear in Albaneve Summits and Veilwater Basin, alongside new areas elsewhere on the map. The player level cap has increased, and a new Sparkworks logic system lets players build custom areas, traps and other interactions.

The console expansion could widen the game's audience: at its height Enshrouded drew as many as 160,405 concurrent players on Steam. An Xbox version is planned for spring 2027, though no firm date has been announced. Before the October launch, Keen Games promised news on improvements, optimisation, quality-of-life changes and new content, and users on the r/Enshrouded subreddit spotted hints of the floating island biome and lighting improvements in the announcement trailer.
