THE CRUNCH

Facebook users can now tell the platform, in their own words, what they want to see. Meta announced on Tuesday that it is bringing "Your Algorithm", an AI-powered feature first launched on Instagram, to Facebook. The tool lets people describe their preferences in natural language to influence what appears in Feed and Reels, with changes reflected in recommendations in real time.

The feature works alongside an updated three-dot menu on individual posts. From there, users can open "Your Algorithm" or tap "Interested" or "Not interested" to signal how they feel about particular content. Meta says the platform may ask follow-up questions to better understand what a user liked or disliked, helping refine future recommendations.

It is part of a broader personalisation push across Meta's apps. Instagram introduced Your Algorithm in June, extending it across Feed and Explore after launching it for Reels in December 2025, while Threads offers a related feature called "Dear Algo". TechCrunch characterises the shift as moving social feeds closer to the way streaming services let viewers personalise recommendations.
