THE CRUNCH

Game Freak has announced Ame no Chi Hare Onna, a free-to-play mobile game set in modern-day Japan. The title is a 'laundry game' where a magical girl named Hare Onna uses weather to brighten people's moods. The game is directed by Shigeru Ohmori, who also directed the Pokémon series, and is being developed in collaboration with CHRONOGATE. It is scheduled to launch this winter in Japan.

The game features real-world weather influences, allowing players to connect daily gameplay with weather forecasts across Japan. Hare Onna is a magical girl who can turn weather into power, accompanied by Kumorin, a messenger of the gods. The characters are voiced by Hiyori Kono and Yuki Nagano, respectively, and were designed by Aki Minamino and Kyoko Abe of Game Freak.

Game Freak will host a live stream on September 14 to discuss the production process and introduce the characters and voice actors. Further details are expected to be revealed at Tokyo Game Show 2026, which runs from September 17 to 21 at Makuhari Messe in Chiba.
