THE CRUNCH

GEEKOM demonstrated a local inference cluster at IFA 2026 by connecting four A9 Mega mini PCs using USB4. The system uses AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 processors with 16 Zen 5 cores and up to 128 GB of LPDDR5X memory. The setup reportedly consumes less than 1,000 W at peak load.

GEEKOM has unveiled a local inference cluster at IFA 2026 that uses USB4 to link four A9 Mega mini PCs. This configuration creates a desktop-sized supercomputer that keeps AI workloads and data entirely on-premise. The cluster eliminates the need for a dedicated rack or proprietary networking hardware.

Each node in the cluster is powered by an AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 processor. This chip features 16 Zen 5 CPU cores, integrated Radeon 8060S graphics, and an NPU capable of up to 50 TOPS. The system also supports up to 128 GB of unified LPDDR5X memory running at 8,000 MT/s.

The A9 Mega measures 171 x 171.1 x 70.1 mm and includes dual 2.5 GbE, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, and HDMI 2.1. The 140 W TDP of the processor means the entire cluster draws less than 1,000 W at peak load, which the company describes as extremely power efficient.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT

GEEKOM has not announced a release date for the A9 Mega or the cluster setup.
