THE CRUNCH
Google may be widening its "Call for Me" AI feature so it can place calls to friends and family, not just businesses. The rumour comes from Android Authority, which found a "Gemini Calling" introductory screen in an APK teardown, the practice of digging through an app's code before features go live. Example prompts include "Call Mom and tell her I will be 15 minutes late" and "Call John and ask if he is coming for dinner."
Based on those examples, even an expanded version would likely stick to basic, text message-like calls rather than automating a full catch-up chat with a relative. The appeal is for people who prefer a phone call, often miss texts, or just need a quick message delivered.
