THE CRUNCH

Santa Monica Studio has delayed God of War Laufey by three months, moving the PS5 exclusive from February 16 to May 20, 2027. The studio said it will use the extra time on finishing touches and pushing the game "to its fullest potential."

The game stars Faye, Kratos's wife, played again by Deborah Ann Woll. She reawakens in the afterlife after her death, which kicked off 2018's God of War, and her adventure runs parallel to Kratos and Atreus's exploits. A gameplay reveal earlier this year suggested a shift toward more acrobatic action, and yes, there is a talking jelly cube.

Per Engadget, the delay gives the game breathing room from a busy early-2027 slate that includes Sony's own Until Dawn 2 on January 28 and the usual March arrival of MLB The Show, and keeps at least one first-party title in Sony's spring quarter.
