THE CRUNCH

Google has released an experimental note-taking app called AI Edge Foresight that transcribes meetings and audio files entirely offline. The free app runs on macOS using the company's on-device EmbeddingGemma 2 model, meaning transcription, note generation and questions about the conversation are handled on the device itself.

Foresight works similarly to AI note-taking apps like Granola and Wispr Flow: it summarises your meetings while providing a space to take your own notes. Google says you can jot down shorthand bullet points during a call and the app will transform them into "polished notes" based on the information in the transcript.
