Valve’s Steam Frame is a follow-up to the Index that mixes boosted specs with the ability to run standalone. It is a comfortable and pleasant device for PC-to-VR streaming, but as a standalone unit, it is not quite ready for prime time. The Steam Frame is Valve’s second in-house VR headset, succeeding the 2019 Index. It features a boosted spec sheet and the ability to function standalone, though it is best used for PC-to-headset streaming. The device is lightweight and comfortable, with some neat ideas, but there are reservations about its standalone capabilities.
