THE CRUNCH
Cloudflare has announced a new feature for its Managed Defense service that uses OpenAI's Daybreak models to automate the discovery and remediation of software vulnerabilities. The system analyses production traffic and security signals to identify threats, propose code patches, and prepare edge mitigations. This aims to help security teams prioritise the most critical issues and patch them faster.
Cloudflare is rolling out a new tool designed to take the headache out of patching security holes. The Vulnerability Discovery and Remediation feature uses OpenAI's Daybreak models to scan production traffic and security signals. The system then prioritises findings, helping teams fix the most critical threats first rather than drowning in a sea of alerts.
The tool does more than just spot trouble; it aims to fix it too. When a safe edge mitigation is possible, the system can prepare it automatically. It also suggests code patches to developers, effectively acting as a junior security analyst that never sleeps. This helps bridge the gap between spotting a vulnerability and closing it.
By combining Web Application Firewall (WAF) data with the AI models, the solution offers a more intelligent way to handle patching. It focuses on the most urgent risks, ensuring that resources are spent where they matter most. This approach could significantly reduce the window of opportunity for attackers to exploit known weaknesses.
