THE CRUNCH

McDonald’s is trialling advertisements on its drive-thru digital menu boards at company-owned restaurants, according to a report from Bloomberg. The pilot involves showing ads from other brands after a customer has placed their order, so they appear while they wait for their meal. A McDonald’s spokesperson told Bloomberg the test aims to explore ways to share post-purchase content that customers may find helpful, or,

relevant, or interesting. The ads will appear on the digital menu boards at locations participating in the limited pilot. The company has not yet responded to further requests for comment.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT

The company will evaluate customer feedback and engagement metrics to determine if the pilot should be expanded.
