THE CRUNCH

Meta has launched two new AI models, Muse Wonder and Muse Wonder Full, available to Muse Code subscribers from today. Wonder is also accessible through the Meta Model API. The company claims the pair can go toe-to-toe with the industry's leading models, and says Wonder will eventually power its Muse AI agent, starting with subscribers.

Meta points to internal testing on several industry benchmarks to back its claim that the models rival OpenAI's GPT-6 Astra and Anthropic's Claude Opus 5.5 and Claude Fable 5.1. Those are the company's own results, and it is unclear how the models compare with Google's Gemini 4 Argon, whose capabilities are still coming into focus.

The launch is part of Meta's broader push to reestablish itself as a major AI force after launching Muse Spark, the first model from its revamped Superintelligence Labs division. The company has poured billions into talent and infrastructure and has been expanding its lineup, including the Muse Image model and a focus on bringing AI agents to a wide audience through Muse.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT

Meta plans to power its Muse AI agent with Wonder, starting with subscribers, and to develop specialised models it says it can bring to everyone using Muse. It has not shared specifics or a timeline for either step.
