THE CRUNCH
Meta has unveiled Horizon Create, a mobile app, and Horizon Studio, a web-based tool, that let users build playable 2D and 3D games from text prompts. The apps are in early access and will let published games reach audiences on Facebook and Instagram.
Horizon Create is a mobile app aimed at quick, on-the-go creation, while Horizon Studio offers more granular controls for editing details like difficulty, art direction, and progression systems. Both tools run on the Meta Horizon Engine and allow creators to publish their work across Meta's social apps. A Horizon VP described the workflow as starting with a description and building a game with real depth, with everything being one prompt away.
Meta has been laying groundwork for this for a while, with dataminers spotting references to a Horizon Create app inside the main Meta Horizon app as early as August. The company has not yet said when the tools will be broadly available or specified device requirements beyond Create being a mobile app and Studio living on the web. It remains unclear how capable the generated games are compared to traditional titles.
