THE CRUNCH

WiCi has unveiled the WiCi One, a wireless external GPU box that leverages Wi-Fi 7 to stream graphics to client machines. The device includes a built-in 4TB PCIe 5.0 SSD, designed to store model weights for local AI workloads and reduce data transfer over the air. The base configuration features an RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB and is priced at $1,999 for early signups.

The WiCi One aims to solve the latency issues of wireless eGPUs by using a custom driver that caches data, deduplicates content, and compresses traffic to keep the connection responsive. This approach theoretically allows a single GPU to be shared across multiple machines via a standard HTTP API or Python libraries. The onboard 4TB SSD is intended to store large language model weights, enabling more complex AI tasks without constantly shuffling data over Wi-Fi.

While the device is marketed for AI workloads, WiCi notes it can also run games, though performance for real-time gaming is expected to be limited compared to wired connections. The base model includes an RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB and is set for a preview in late 2026, with a variant featuring an RTX 5090 planned for the future. The $1,999 price tag is positioned as reasonable when compared to the cost of the individual components.
