THE CRUNCH
NVIDIA has released Isaac ROS 5.0, a collection of GPU-accelerated packages built on the open robotics framework ROS. The update introduces agentic workflows to help developers and AI agents build and customise robotics applications faster. It adds support for ROS Lyrical and Ubuntu 24.04, and new NVIDIA Isaac skills for setup and manipulation. The release also brings agent-ready documentation and new inference tools
The update includes a FoundationStereo fine-tuning skill that lets AI agents adapt perception models to specific cameras and environments. FoundationPose, a model for object pose estimation, now provides an agent-ready inference library that speeds up perception by up to 5.5x. The platform is designed to work with NVIDIA accelerated computing, with CUDA providing an example of GPU acceleration.
The release is part of a broader push to integrate AI agents into robotics development. AgenticROS, an open source project sponsored by RealSense, connects Isaac ROS with NVIDIA Nemotron models and NemoClaw blueprints. This allows AI agents to interact with ROS-based robots. Several partners are also integrating Isaac ROS, including Seeed Studio with the reBot Arm, Flexiv with the Rizon 4 adaptive robot, and Magna for intelligent automation in manufacturing.
