THE CRUNCH

Arc Games and developer Thekla have released a new trailer for narrative puzzle adventure Order of the Sinking Star, introducing the game's central Overworld. The trailer highlights a non-linear structure with four distinct realms branching from a central hub, each featuring unique characters and mechanics. The developers promise over one thousand handcrafted puzzles and hundreds of hours of gameplay.

The trailer details the four cardinal realms: the North, featuring a moving company of heroes with distinct abilities; the East, where players navigate mirror-islands using spatial awareness; the West, a subterranean cavern network requiring coloured light beams to unlock abilities; and the South, a water-based traversal challenge using skipping stones and lily pads.

The game's structure shifts when players reach the 'Gold Rooms', causing the separate realms to collide. This creates hybrid zones that combine puzzle systems from different worlds, such as pairing light beams with mirrors or bringing the moving crew to the Sailor's skipping stones.

Order of the Sinking Star is due out for PlayStation 5, Switch 2, and PC. The full voice cast is set to be unveiled closer to release.
