THE CRUNCH
Apple has announced the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, promising a major upgrade to the camera system, performance, and battery life. The devices feature a new 48MP Fusion Main camera with a variable aperture, a smaller Dynamic Island, and the A20 Pro chip.
The new 48MP Fusion Main camera now includes a variable aperture, a feature that Apple claims offers creative control not previously possible on an iPhone. Both models also feature a smaller Dynamic Island and a next-generation vapor chamber designed to deliver the highest sustained performance in iPhone history. The iPhone 18 Pro Max is noted for delivering the largest increase in battery life ever on an iPhone.
Running on iOS 27, the devices will include Apple Intelligence and Siri AI, positioning the phone as an intelligent personal hub. Pre-orders for the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are scheduled to begin on Saturday, September 12, with general availability following on Friday, September 18.
