THE CRUNCH
MSI IPC has introduced the MS-C9ZA, a compact fanless Edge AI Box PC powered by NVIDIA's Jetson Orin Nano 8 GB module. The device is designed for space-constrained industrial environments, featuring a 6-core Arm Cortex-A78AE CPU, Ampere GPU, and 8 GB of LPDDR5 memory. It supports local AI inference for robotics and machine vision while reducing reliance on cloud processing.
The MS-C9ZA measures 126 × 96 × 74 mm and operates without a fan, making it suitable for environments where silence and reliability are critical. It offers a wide operating temperature range from -25°C to 60°C and can be mounted on DIN rails. The box provides industrial I/O including dual Gigabit Ethernet, USB, I2C, UART, CAN, and 1.3 kV isolated GPIO.
For storage and expansion, the unit supports M.2 slots for NVMe drives and includes TPM 2.0 for hardware-based security. The Jetson Orin Nano 8 GB platform is capable of running various AI workloads, including optimised generative AI, small language models, and vision transformers, depending on the specific software configuration and memory requirements.
