THE CRUNCH
QNAP has introduced the TVS-hx77AX enterprise hybrid ZFS NAS series, featuring the 16-, 12-, and 8-bay models. These systems are powered by AMD Ryzen 7000 series processors and DDR5 memory, with native NFS over RDMA support designed for AI training, virtualisation, and 4K video collaboration.
The new TVS-hx77AX series is built around AMD's Ryzen 7000 processors, which utilise the Zen 4 architecture to boost Instructions Per Clock (IPC) performance. The units support up to 192 GB of DDR5 memory, with ECC support available, and are designed to run multiple virtual machines and containerised applications concurrently.
QNAP claims the series sets a new performance benchmark for desktop NAS form factors. The inclusion of native NFS over RDMA support is intended to facilitate high-load AI model training and 4K video collaboration, though the specific performance metrics have not yet been disclosed.
