THE CRUNCH

Razer has unveiled the Mako line of desktop gaming speakers, offering two configurations for different desk setups. The Mako features a 2.1-channel system with a dedicated subwoofer and rear-projection Chroma RGB, while the smaller Mako X uses passive radiators and underglow lighting. Both models support 7.1 virtual surround sound and offer flexible connectivity via USB-C, Bluetooth 5.3, or 3.5 mm.

The Mako pairs custom-tuned 2.75-inch full-range drivers with a forward-firing 3.5-inch subwoofer, delivering 40 W RMS and 60 W peak output with a frequency response down to 45 Hz. The Mako X opts for a 2.0-channel design with built-in passive radiators, reaching 30 W RMS and 45 W peak output with bass extending to 60 Hz. Both models rely on a single USB-C cable for power and audio, with higher output available when connected to a compatible 30 W or higher USB-C power source.

Razer emphasises the compact footprint of the Mako line, aiming to provide room-filling sound without cluttering the desk. The angled desktop design projects sound toward ear level, while 7.1 virtual surround sound widens the soundstage for games, movies, and music. Lighting options include rear-projection Chroma RGB on the Mako and 10-zone underglow on the Mako X, compatible with over 300 Chroma-integrated games.

The Mako is positioned for gamers who want maximum presence on their desk, while the Mako X targets those seeking a more streamlined setup. Connectivity options include Bluetooth 5.3 and a 3.5 mm jack as alternatives to USB-C. Razer describes the line as a way to upgrade desktop audio with expressive lighting and flexible connections, fitting the aesthetic of modern battlestations.
