THE CRUNCH
Sony has refreshed its PS5 audio lineup with the PlayStation Pulse and Pulse Edge wireless headsets. Both new models retain the custom studio-inspired planar magnetic drivers that were introduced with the Pulse Elite, promising greater precision and clarity for gaming. The updated drivers are larger, which aims to deliver fuller, deeper bass while maintaining the clean sound profile of the previous model.
The refreshed lineup emphasises superior sound quality, with the larger planar drivers designed to enhance sound separation and spatial accuracy. This improvement is intended to help players better pinpoint directional cues, such as footsteps or reloads in competitive first-person shooters.
The PlayStation Pulse and Pulse Edge headsets are positioned as successors to the Pulse Elite, which launched in 2024 and was the first wireless headset in the lineup to feature planar magnetic drivers and PlayStation Link connectivity.
