THE CRUNCH

Hamster Corporation will release Xevious 3D/G on September 24 as part of its Arcade Archives 2 series. The 1996 shoot 'em up is the first home version of the original arcade cabinet, following a PlayStation port in 1997. The game will appear on PS5, Xbox Series X/S and Switch 2, but not Switch or PS4.

Xevious 3D/G is the eighth game in Namco's Xevious series and the first to use polygonal graphics instead of sprites. The title was originally released on the System 11 arcade board, which shares similarities with the original PlayStation hardware. Players control the Solvalou spacecraft to defend against the Xevious forces.

Arcade Archives 2 versions include new modes such as Time Attack and VRR support for a more accurate arcade experience. This marks the 11th polygonal Namco arcade game to be released through the series, following titles like Ridge Racer and Tekken.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT

The game will be available to purchase on the listed platforms starting September 24.
