THE CRUNCH

CD Projekt Red has confirmed that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered will turn the Xbox version into an Xbox Play Anywhere title. Players who own the original game will receive a free upgrade on September 29. This change means that owners of the remastered Xbox version will also gain access to the PC edition at no extra cost. They will be able to download the PC version through the Xbox app on PC and sync their save

The upgrade will apply in all regions, and the Play Anywhere status will be added to the Xbox version following the update. This move follows the game's announcement during Opening Night Live at Gamescom. The remaster includes visual upgrades, the previous expansions, and quality-of-life fixes. It also features enhanced combat, traversal, and new sound effects for certain powers. The in-game skill tree has been revamped, and transmogrification is being added. New combat finishers are also included.

The news was originally confirmed by CD Projekt Red's Japanese account because the PC version was rated CERO Z. The Play Anywhere status will allow players to use supported Xbox handheld devices, such as the Xbox ROG Ally series. This feature is in addition to the existing Smart Delivery system, which installs the Xbox One or Xbox Series X/S version depending on the console being used.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT

The remaster is released on September 29 on all platforms.
