THE CRUNCH

Xbox has added Ubisoft games to its disc-to-digital feature, allowing players to trade in physical discs for a digital version. The move follows the platform holder's initial announcement that thousands of titles would be supported.

The Disc-to-Digital service lets gamers trade in physical discs for a digital copy on the same platform. While Xbox previously said it was 'starting with thousands of titles', the addition of Ubisoft brings major franchises into the fold. Community trackers have identified hundreds of Ubisoft titles, including Assassin's Creed, Far Cry, Watch Dogs, and the Tom Clancy series, as eligible for the program.

Players can now register specific Ubisoft titles, such as Trials Fusion and Assassin's Creed: The Ezio Collection, via the service. However, a user report notes that these titles do not appear to be playable on PC via Xbox's Backward Compatibility on PC program, which may limit the utility of the digital copy for some users.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT

Xbox has indicated that more publishers and titles will be added to the service in the future.
