A Redditor has demonstrated that undervolting an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 can reduce power draw by 47 W while maintaining identical frame rates and image quality when using DLSS 5. The modder claims the undervolt allows the GPU to run with power consumption roughly the same as when running without DLSS 5 and without an undervolt. This finding comes as a potential workaround for users concerned about the reliability of
the now-ubiquitous 12V-2×6 connectors, which have been reported to melt from high power draw and may be exacerbated by power spikes caused by NVIDIA's DLSS 5 technology.
