THE CRUNCH
XMG has announced a new round of laptop price increases, with most models rising by €100 to €150 and some by up to €300. The changes took effect on September 18 and follow a sharp rise in memory prices, which have nearly quadrupled since mid-2025. The company says the hikes are due to higher costs for memory, GPUs, CPUs, and shipping, not an attempt to boost margins.
The price adjustments affect a wide range of XMG models, including the APEX 16, CORE 15, NEO 16, and several PRO series. The SCHENKER KEY 18 Pro saw the largest single increase at €300. Upgrading to an RTX 5090 laptop GPU now costs an additional €120 across the NEO 16 and SCHENKER KEY 18 Pro. Some RTX 5070 upgrade prices were trimmed slightly, but the overall system cost remains higher than before.
XMG attributes the price hikes to a combination of factors. Memory remains the biggest driver, with DDR5 SO-DIMM prices for laptops rising nearly sixfold compared to mid-2025. Desktop DDR5 modules and SSDs have followed a similar trend. The company also notes that GPU chips, GDDR7 video memory, Intel and AMD laptop CPUs, and PCBs are now more expensive. Additionally, air freight and sea freight costs have increased due to the conflict in the Middle East and rising fuel prices.
