THE CRUNCH

8BitDo has launched the Ultimate 3C+, a more affordable take on its recently revealed special edition Ultimate 3 Wireless controllers. It carries a pre-order price of $39.99 on Amazon, with general availability set for October 30.

The controller keeps the Xbox-style layout familiar from most of 8BitDo's Ultimate line, with ABXY face buttons and offset thumb sticks. It connects to Android and Windows devices over 2.4 GHz, USB-C wired or Bluetooth 5.4 LE, and the 2.4 GHz link offers 1 kHz polling to reduce input latency.

Despite the lower price, the feature list leans flagship-tier: TMR joysticks with adjustable tension, separate trigger vibration motors that sync with the rumble, lockable back paddles, extra L/R4 shoulder buttons, Hall effect triggers with linear and non-linear modes, and magnetic storage for the 2.4 GHz receiver.

Battery life is rated at up to 20 hours on the 2.4 GHz connection from the 500 mAh cell, stretching to 32 hours over Bluetooth.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT

Regular availability begins on October 30, when the controller leaves the pre-order window.
