THE CRUNCH

Grand Theft Auto VI will reportedly require a 210GB download on PlayStation 5, according to PlayStation Game Size, an account that tracks PS Store releases through the store's backend, with the figure corroborated by Insider Gaming. The game launches on 19 November on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, and preloading begins on 12 November.

It is not yet clear whether 210GB is the total storage needed to install the game or just the download itself, and whether a day-one patch is included or will come on top. Either way, anyone short on drive space may want to clear room and preload ahead of release.

For context, that is 61GB more than the 149GB Red Dead Redemption 2 needed free on a PS4 in 2018, per IGN, and more than half of the roughly 362GB of usable storage in a standard 512GB Xbox Series S. Eurogamer notes 210GB is not far beyond the biggest PS5 games, with Call of Duty's multi-mode installs a familiar comparison, though those at least let you uninstall parts you do not play. Whether GTA Online can be similarly separated from single-player content, should it arrive, remains an open question.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT

Preloading opens on 12 November, and PlayStation Game Size is expected to update the figure if the download size changes before launch.
