THE CRUNCH

A modder has expanded the DLSS-NR-on-AMD project so that three generations of Radeon graphics cards can run Nvidia's full DLSS 5 feature set, not just Neural Rendering. Daniel Blanco's project first appeared on 3 September 2026 to bring DLSS 5 Neural Rendering, a technique Nvidia uses to generate parts of the image with a neural network, to AMD GPUs that have no equivalent of their own. The latest 0.8.0 update adds the rest of the suite: DLSS Super Resolution 4.5, Frame Generation, Ray Reconstruction (Ray Regeneration) and the newest 310.9.16 Neural Rendering build.

The mod works in any DirectX 12 game that uses FSR, DLSS or XeSS on RX 9000, 7000 and 6000 cards (RDNA 4, 3 and 2). Installation runs through the NeuralHub mod loader, which detects supported games and lets you enable FSR, DLSS or XeSS in-game; the mod then inserts itself into that upscaler pipeline and applies your configured settings, with an overlay for tweaking DLSS options without leaving the game. The update also bundles FSR 4.1.1 upscaling, giving the mod a consistent FSR version to build on rather than juggling the different implementations found across games.

The developer says output quality is now very similar to native DLSS on Nvidia cards, apart from "some effects that may not be working 100%". In his own testing, an RX 9070 XT played at 90 to 100 FPS at 1080p. Real-world reports are more mixed: some Reddit users see no performance loss over native FSR, while others lose single-digit FPS or up to 25% in various games, and the mod does not work with anti-cheat. The project has come a long way from its first release, which the developer built specifically to fill the Neural Rendering gap; the 0.8.0 update now covers every main DLSS feature along with further performance improvements.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT

Blanco says he is making improvements daily and aims to match the performance of an Nvidia RTX 5070 Ti on Radeon hardware.
