THE CRUNCH
AMD is unlikely to reveal its RDNA 5 graphics architecture before June 2027, according to a claim by tech leaker Kepler_L2. Responding to a question on the Anandtech Forums about whether RDNA 5 cards might appear within three to five months, the leaker said "Computex 2027 at the earliest" and "most likely later in the year". Computex 2027 runs from 1 to 4 June, which would mean a wait of at least seven and a half months from the claim.
The wait would cover workstation GPUs as well as gaming cards. The forum question came from a user hoping for a competitor to Nvidia's RTX Pro 6000, and the leaker's answer suggested no such reveal is imminent.
On memory, Kepler_L2 said "4GB GDDR7 will not be used for next generation consumer parts", with driver updates already hinting that AMD is preparing GDDR7 support in 2GB or 3GB chip configurations.
The claim fits a broader pattern of delays attributed to rising memory prices in the wake of the AI boom. Nvidia has reportedly pushed its RTX 60 series back to 2028, and while AMD's RDNA 5 GPUs are expected sooner, only one Radeon gaming chip is apparently on schedule for 2027. In the meantime, AMD's 12GB Radeon RX 9070 GRE is shaping up as the only mid-range GPU worth buying at current prices, per the report.
