THE CRUNCH
Hello Games is bringing No Man's Sky to iOS, with versions for iPhone and iPad arriving on October 28. Studio head Sean Murray says the mobile version is essentially the complete game, all of its post-launch updates included, writing in a blog post that "this is not No Man's Sky Lite." The main omissions are multiplayer and planetary settlements.
The port will run on the iPhone 11 and third-generation iPad Air and above, and the download weighs in at a modest 5GB. There are newly designed touch controls, plus support for controllers, screen casting and mouse-and-keyboard on the iPad. Murray says the team put particular effort into battery life and thermodynamics so the game can be played comfortably for long sessions.
It will be free to try at launch, though the price of the full version has not been announced. Murray draws a parallel to the game's Switch debut, saying that based on feedback and player numbers Hello will support iOS in a similar way to how it expanded the Switch version over time.
