THE CRUNCH
Nvidia's GeForce RTX 5080 now lists at nearly $2,000 across US retailers including Best Buy, Micro Center, Amazon, Newegg and B&H, roughly double the $999 MSRP it launched with in early 2025. The climb has been steep: in just two months, listings have jumped from $1,200 to $2,000.
Two forces are behind the increase. Add-in board partners introduced custom cards with new PCBs, enhanced cooling and other features that pushed prices above the launch figure, and then the 16 GB of GDDR7 memory used in the GPU came into short supply, making those memory modules much more expensive.
The pricing appears to be a genuine reset rather than a few outlier listings. On B&H, older listings show better prices but are marked as temporarily out of stock, while only the in-stock listings sit at $2,000 or more, suggesting new pricing has been applied across retailers.
