THE CRUNCH

Micro Center has reclassified the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 as "not carried", a label indicating the US retailer no longer expects to restock the flagship graphics card. The change, reported on 15 October 2026, follows days of rumours that Nvidia has quietly stopped producing the card. Nvidia has not officially commented, and its website still lists the RTX 5090 with a "starting at $1,999" price.

The distinction matters: an out-of-stock item is temporarily unavailable, whereas "not carried" means it has left the retailer's active catalogue. Partner cards from Asus, MSI and Gigabyte remain listed on Micro Center's site, but Tom's Hardware found them out of stock at all physical locations. The one exception is the Asus ROG Astral Edition 20, available at most stores only as part of an anniversary bundle priced at almost $11,000.

The reports follow an earlier claim from 10 October 2026, when leaker MEGAsizeGPU posted on X that "no more GB202 for 5090" and that future supplies of the chip would be RTX Pro exclusive. The theory is that Nvidia is redirecting its GB202 silicon, which powers the RTX 5090, to higher-margin workstation cards such as the RTX Pro 6000 and 5500. Nvidia has not confirmed the leakers' claims.

Buying an RTX 5090 was already difficult, with prices in the US recently passing $5,000 against a $1,999 MSRP. One Reddit user claims a Micro Center employee said a card was "pulled and being sent somewhere else" on 9 October, and later congratulated them on buying "the last 5090 we will probably sell". Separately, unverified Reddit comments suggest B&H has told customers the card is discontinued, though its listings still describe models as temporarily out of stock.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT

Club386 says it has contacted Nvidia, Micro Center and B&H again following the developments, and Tom's Hardware has reached out to Micro Center for comment. Any official response would settle whether the flagship has genuinely been pulled from production.
