THE CRUNCH
An unofficial mod called Universal MFG Unlocker 1.5.0 lets GeForce RTX 30 cards run Nvidia's newer, performance-optimised DLSS frame generation preset, which Nvidia officially reserved for RTX 40 and 50 GPUs and RTX Spark machines. Developer Dashdogy says RTX 30 support is now stable, with smoother pacing at 3x multi-frame generation and above.
The mod unlocks DLSS Preset C, a lighter AI algorithm that Nvidia introduced to replace the older optical flow model. Nvidia claims it can boost performance by up to 35% on the RTX 5060 8GB, with the biggest gains at the higher 6x frame generation mode. No performance figures have been shared for the RTX 30 implementation, so those official numbers are not directly transferable.
The lighter model could matter more on Ampere cards, which lack the newer fourth-generation Tensor cores found in later GPUs. Since DLSS frame generation runs real-time neural network passes to build frames, older hardware carries a higher overhead, which can hurt frame pacing and latency.
There are limits. The mod does not make multi-frame generation work in unsupported games; it tricks Nvidia's communication pipeline to enable modes above 2x and Preset C on unsupported hardware. Because it is unofficial, stability and performance may vary widely between games, with crashes a real possibility, and it currently mainly works in DirectX 12 titles as Vulkan support is not yet available.
