THE CRUNCH

ASUS's Republic of Gamers has put the ROG Xbox Ally X20 on sale today, a special edition handheld built for the 20th anniversary of the ROG brand, which was formed in 2006. It arrives in a translucent black chassis with gold-accented internals, a nod to the see-through gadgets of two decades ago.

Under the hood sits AMD's Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme processor and a 7.4-inch OLED Nebula HDR display with variable refresh rate support. The cooling has been reworked around three airflow paths, and redesigned fans with fewer, larger blades push 20% more airflow alongside an 11% larger heatsink fin surface area, according to the announcement.

The controls get anniversary treatment too: TMR sensor joysticks with a claimed 3% dead zone to resist stick drift, a tool-free D-pad that switches between four-way and eight-way input, and lighter-actuation face buttons. A US$2,499 bundle adds ROG XREAL R1 Edition 20 AR glasses with a 171-inch virtual screen, a custom dbrand Killswitch case and a Pelican Protector case.

It joins the existing Xbox Ally lineup at US$1,299, sitting above the Ally and Ally X, which remain on sale at US$599 and US$999.
