THE CRUNCH

AOC has introduced the U27G4Z, a 27-inch gaming monitor with a dual-mode Fast IPS panel that runs at 3840 x 2160 at 240 Hz or drops to 1920 x 1080 at 480 Hz. The display is listed on AOC's Chinese website, with no pricing or availability announced for other regions.

The panel carries a 1 ms GtG response time and a claimed 0.3 ms MPRT, a measure of how long a pixel stays visibly lit during motion. It supports Adaptive-Sync and is NVIDIA G-SYNC Compatible, and it holds VESA DisplayHDR 400 certification with 350 nits in SDR mode and 450 nits in HDR mode. AOC quotes a 1,300:1 static contrast ratio, 99% sRGB coverage and 95% of DCI-P3.

Connectivity includes two HDMI 2.1 ports, one DisplayPort 2.1, two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A downstream ports, a USB upstream port and an audio output, as there are no built-in speakers. Display Stream Compression, which packs a higher-resolution signal into the available bandwidth, is required for the highest-bandwidth display modes. Gaming extras include crosshair overlays, shadow control and motion-blur reduction via MBR and MBR Sync, plus Picture-in-Picture and Picture-by-Picture support.

The included stand offers a full range of adjustments, and the monitor also supports VESA 100 x 100 mm mounting. For now, the U27G4Z remains a China listing, so anyone elsewhere will have to wait for AOC to confirm regional plans.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT

AOC has not announced pricing or availability outside China, so regional launch details are worth watching for.
