THE CRUNCH

Apple could be about to break one of its longest-standing hardware traditions. A Bloomberg report, picked up by TechPowerUp, claims a MacBook Pro with a touchscreen OLED panel will launch on October 27 or close to that date, alongside a new iPad mini with an OLED display.

The touchscreen MacBook Pro is described as a range-topping model positioned above the current MacBook Pro line. It would reportedly arrive together with a 14-inch M6 MacBook Pro and an M6 iMac.

Supporting the rumours, a beta of macOS 27.2 previously included new long-press animations in the Dock UI for tooltips, the kind of interaction change you would expect if touch input were coming to the Mac. Everything here remains unconfirmed, however, and Apple has not announced any of these devices.
