THE CRUNCH

Google has launched a new experimental AI agent called CC, designed to help families coordinate their daily lives. The agent operates as its own Google account, allowing up to six family members to share emails, schedules, and documents. It can handle tasks like filling out forms, planning meals, and managing calendars, with privacy controls that let users decide which data is visible to the AI.

CC is an evolution of a previous Google Labs experiment that eventually became the Daily Brief feature inside Gemini. The new version is built to be a shared resource rather than a personal assistant, with each family member able to choose how they interact with it. Google says the agent only sees emails from its connected users if those addresses are explicitly shared, and it can monitor a shared Google Drive folder for invitations and documents.

The agent is positioned as a household manager that can take on practical chores. It can fill out forms, create shopping lists, and plan meals, effectively acting as a coordinator for the family's digital life. This approach leans on Google's existing ecosystem, using the data already stored in users' accounts to provide personalised suggestions.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT

Google will likely monitor usage and feedback to refine the agent's privacy settings and task capabilities.
