THE CRUNCH
Salesforce has unveiled Koa, its first reasoning model for customer relationship management, built on NVIDIA's Nemotron 3 Super. The model, which is open-weight and runs entirely within Salesforce's infrastructure, is designed to perform tasks like updating opportunities and routing cases with fewer errors. It is currently available for internal use and will enter customer pilots in October before general release in
Koa was developed using supervised fine-tuning and reinforcement learning, trained on synthetic enterprise scenarios across 14 industries. In Salesforce's internal benchmarks, Koa matches or exceeds leading models on CRM actions while reducing errors by three times. The model is already powering an employee agent in Slack and will be offered as a customer-selectable model in Agentforce starting in October.
NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang joined Salesforce's Marc Benioff at Dreamforce to discuss the partnership. Huang emphasised that safety is an engineering problem and that innovation and safety can coexist. He also noted that open models are now the majority, with 70% of companies adopting them, as every enterprise becomes an AI company.
Koa will be available to customers in the US starting in winter 2026. Pilot partners include Formula 1, UChicago Medicine, and Baxter Credit Union. The model's open-weight nature allows Salesforce to control the weights and ensure no customer data is used during training or inference.
