THE CRUNCH
OpenAI and Google have reached an arrangement that will bring OpenAI's frontier models to Google Cloud services. The full suite of current GPT 6 and 6.1 models, named Astra, Sol and Luna, will launch on Google Cloud, with the latest model appearing in Google's Model Garden in the coming weeks. GPT models will also show up in Antigravity, Google's agent-powered coding tool.
Model Garden is Google's catalogue of hosted AI models, which already offers more than 200 options including Google's own Gemini models, open models such as Mistral, Llama and Gemma, and Anthropic's Claude. Google says it is now the only large cloud provider offering access to all three leading closed large language models.
OpenAI notes that Microsoft continues to be its primary cloud partner, so this is an expansion rather than a switch. Pricing will vary by model, with Astra costing the most to run, and Google's system supports dynamically moving workloads between models based on performance, latency and efficiency.
