THE CRUNCH
Phantom Blade Zero, the wuxia action game from S-Game, launched today at 7pm PT with DLSS 4.5, ray tracing and path tracing, and is playable on GeForce RTX graphics cards and RTX Spark systems. The launch has landed well: the game peaked at 431,541 concurrent players on Steam within hours, making it the platform's second most-played game behind Counter-Strike 2, and it currently tops Steam's global top sellers chart.
Early Steam user reviews average Mostly Positive, though Eurogamer's own review found the game let down by a general lack of polish and pace-breaking boss fights that dulled its strongest element, the swordplay and combat. S-Game has not announced sales figures, but analyst Rhys Elliott of Alinea Analytics estimates around 850,000 copies sold across PC and PlayStation 5, with enough on Tencent's WeGame in China to push the total above 1 million before launch day.
For context, the RTX Spark platform the game supports is Nvidia's Arm-based SoC for laptops and small desktops, combining Blackwell graphics with enough unified memory to run sizable local AI models. As for how the launch compares with the benchmark for Chinese action games, Black Myth: Wukong peaked at 2,415,714 Steam concurrents in 2024 and is estimated to have sold over 30 million copies lifetime. Elliott does not expect Phantom Blade Zero to reach that level, though he predicts strong sales this year.
