THE CRUNCH

Pimax has unveiled Crystal Pro, a wireless PC VR headset announced at its "Frontier: Change To Stay The Same" launch event, according to a press release. The headline feature is what the company calls Native Foveated Streaming: an optional 60 GHz AirLink kit that uses eye tracking to send the GPU's native image straight to the panels in the user's focus area, skipping the encoding step that ordinary Wi-Fi streaming requires. The headset itself ships with built-in Wi-Fi streaming and a dedicated Wi-Fi 6E adapter.

The 60G AirLink kit uses two Room Antennas in a 2x2 MIMO configuration, which Pimax claims is a first for VR headsets, delivering up to 6 Gbps of combined throughput with under 2 ms of added latency. The kit can be bundled or bought separately. The event also brought Ringless VR Controllers, a Spation mini-PC and a refreshed brand identity built around a new signature colour, Stratosphere Blue.
