THE CRUNCH

4 Penny Coffins, an 1888-set social investigation game from developer Other Ocean, launches for PC via Steam on October 27. One player takes the role of the Ripper, a demonic murderer stalking the fog, while up to seven others gather evidence, question suspects and try to unmask them before the next body turns up.

The game blends social deduction with investigative mechanics. Each round follows a three-phase cycle: the Ripper hunts, the players investigate, and a formal Conviction phase follows in which evidence is weighed and a verdict delivered. Evidence can be faked, alibis shift, and the developers say every round reaches a resolution rather than stalling in endless argument.

Alongside the online multiplayer mode for up to eight players, there is a solo mode for anyone brave enough to face the fog alone. Dynamic roles and player-driven outcomes mean sessions unfold differently each time, with trust described as earned slowly and lost instantly.
