THE CRUNCH
Akio Otsuka, the Japanese voice of Solid Snake, says Konami should make one more Metal Gear game even without Hideo Kojima, because fans worldwide are waiting for it. Speaking to the Japanese publication Bunshun, he explained that his long-standing refusal to work on the series without Kojima still stands, but that the two positions are not in conflict now that Kojima has his own projects. The comments were reported by Video Games Chronicle.
Otsuka, who has voiced Solid Snake, Naked Snake, Solidus Snake and Venom Snake across the series, told Japanese publication Bunshun that he stands by his earlier vow not to work on a Metal Gear game without Kojima. "That's why I said 'I don't want to do any Metal Gear that doesn't involve Director Kojima'. Now that I've said it, I can't back down," he said, via machine translation.
Even so, he argued Konami should press ahead for players' sake: "There are fans all over the world eagerly waiting for it. So let's make one more Metal Gear game for them." He reasoned that since Kojima is busy with his own Death Stranding work, there is no obstacle. Asked whether he had raised the idea with Kojima himself, Otsuka replied: "I'll leave that to your imagination."
