THE CRUNCH
Publisher GRYPHLINE and developer Mountain Contour will release the "Sanctuary of Ink" version update for Arknights: Endfield on October 15, the same day the free-to-play 3D real-time strategy RPG arrives on Steam. The update adds a new main-story chapter, two playable Operators and an inn-running side mode.
The update sends players into Si's Painting, a landscape of the innkeeper's own creation where brushstrokes restore broken paths. Si joins the roster as a playable Operator who can draw an Inksoul from an enemy, transferring damage back to the original target, while Argent Flow arrives as a mounted fighter who charges on his warhorse, Nuli. Both become available through successive recruitment events during the update.
Combat also gets a shake-up, as the returning Contingency Contract mode introduces modifiers that, for the first time, give enemies extra attack patterns to plan around. Away from the battlefield, players can run the Yuanyuan Manor Inn itself, growing crops and cooking dishes for guests to fund expansions, with an Auto-Farmer helping with sowing and harvesting.
The Steam release brings the free-to-play 3D real-time strategy RPG to a wider PC audience, and cross-platform progression lets existing players carry their progress on Talos-II across devices. The update also adds quality-of-life touches such as saved equipment loadouts and more precise mouse targeting, alongside a soundtrack featuring Black Myth: Wukong composer Zhai Jinyan and Death Stranding composer Ludvig Forssell.
